![]() ![]() ![]() Gear is key - steal whatever you can if you've therion as a higher level party member, or Tressa if you've got some spare cash and/or don't have therion at a higher level. Buffs & debuffs are crucial, and you want to aim to create exponential damage windows by breaking the boss and 3x boosting with your buffed damage dealers on a debuffed boss. If you're struggling still, you need to reassess your understanding of the combat system, because the difference between fully utilizing it and failing to do is is gargantuan the same boss fight could take an hour or 3 minutes. A low level character can contribute when kitted with high tier gear, and will catch up quickly when fighting high level enemies regardless. Once you're comfortable with the battle system and decently equipped, you should be able to tackle stuff in excess of 10+ levels of your group.Īnd finally, because level doesn't matter much, and EXP scales generously: don't worry about characters becoming underleveled while benched. Dancer - Sunlands Cleric - Frostlands Scholar - Flatlands).Īnd while you absolutely should do that for a large power boost, I would recommend you stop paying too much attention to Danger Levels & Recommended Levels, because of my first point. Each sub-job is hidden in a shrine in each region's Chapter 2 field area, with the sub-job corresponding to whomever began in that region (e.g. The #1 thing you should do to bridge the gap between Chapters 1 & 2 is to unlock the sub-job system. a level 40 character and a level 10 character equipped and built identically would deal comparable damage.) You should avoid using evasive maneuvers anywhere else though, because it will make you fall behind for the story encounters unless you really know what you're doing.Level in Octopath means little statistically compared to equipment and build. Worth noting that the secondary class in the sunlands is in an area considered to be chapter 3, so for that one I typically equip evasive maneuvers (from Scholar) and make a run for it. I've found on my playthroughs that I don't actually need to grind at all between chapter 1 and chapter 2, since I gear up properly and take on the in-between battles while making my way around the second ring collecting the secondary classes. If you go around collecting the secondary classes, you'll increase your options in battle significantly, as well as "grind" some levels with the natural encounters without actually doing any grinding. Even then, the "recommended" levels for the areas leading to the second ring towns, as well as the areas between the towns and the chapter 2 dungeons, are not nearly as high as the "recommended" level for the chapter 2 stories(it really feels more like a recommendation for where you should be at when you reach the final boss, and even then you'll be fine being "underleveled" if you have good gear and proper tactics), and you should have no problem taking those areas on at your level. You can take on chapter 2 stories below the recommended levels no sweat, as long as you have a proper team built, and good equipment equipped. People get baited into grinding before chapter 2 because they see that the recommended level for the chapter 2 stories is relatively high, but it really is just a recommendation. ![]() Enemies don't even have levels, so being underleveled isn't even a thing. Levels really don't mean that much in this game.
